Torch On Process Explained
The “Torch On” process uses Bitumen-Polymer Reinforced Plastomeric Waterproofing Membrane Containing Distilled Bitumen and Plastomers that is manufactured from modified bitumen reinforced with a non-woven polyester fabric and a fiberglass mat.
It is a robust and stable membrane that gets its strength from membrane strength from the polyester and the stability from the fiberglass mat.
The top surface of the membrane gets an evenly distributed talc finish that allows it to be unrolled easily during the installation process. The membrane is then embossed which allows for rapid burn off of a polyethylene film when the membrane is being installed by torch application and this also allows for vapor diffusion when loose-laid or spot bonded installation procedures are used.
This process produces a good looking, low maintenance waterproofing material. It should be noted that this membrane is to be be used as a capping sheet for the process.
